New memory - no change?
Hi!
I just purchased a new memory card for my computer and am not really noticing any major change, so I am posting to see if there is a problem with my installation or if I was just expecting things to be noticably faster (since start-up is still relatively slow and I don't notice any change when running multiple programs). I have an hp pavilion a320n, running Windows XP SP2, AMD Athlon 2800+ processor with built in 512 MB DDR SDRAM (max memory is 2048 MB), 2 slots w/ 256 MB each slot. I purchased a Kingston 1 GB PC2700 DDR DIMM Memory card (KVR333/1 GR). I installed the memory card into memory bank 0 and left the 256 MB card into memory bank 1. When I ran the computer and pressed F1 for set-up, the screen listed Memory Bank 0 1024 MB DDR SDRAM, and Memory Bank 1 256 MB DDR SDRAM. Therefore, it looks like my computer is reading the memory card. However, I haven't noticed any improvement in computer speed, etc, so I am hoping to find out if I have made an errors or what I can do to improve my set up. Any other information needed please just let me know, and thanks! |
