Power Supply Problem Need Help Asap
my computer has been working fine, and then i got a soundcard and put it in my comp, turned it on and happy to see it detected a multimedia audio controller. so i put in the CD to install the driver and my comp turns off.
i check to see the plugs are in correctly and the power outlet, but still does not turn on. check to see the soundcard is still inputted, it is. this is the first time workin with a computer's inside, so i may need a little in-depth explanantion. thanks everyone. |

Ok look inside you will see a 20 or 24 pin connection from the powersupply to the motherboard it will have 20 or 24 wirers coming into it make sure it is seated and down tight.
Wiggle it slightly and push down but not to hard. You may also see a 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch connector from the psu to the board it will have 2 yellow and 2 black wirers check this also. Now try it and post back |

In the second picture there is a connection to the right of the cpu fan with blue and red wirer's that looks twisted, carefully pull this off and reseat it and see if the pins are bent or anything. I doubt this is the problem but check it.
Its possible you loosened the case switch wirer's so follow them back from the case switch and make sure they are connected. I can't see this in the pic but post another one of the case switch connections if you have questions about it. Also if you don't know how to connect the case switch because it is not connected you will have to tell us your full system specs or the brand name and model of the computer |
