Memory doesn't show up

Just bought a stick of 512 MB RAM, got the same attributes as my first one (PC3200, SDRAM, etc.) so I put it in and it doesn't seem like it can go in all the way but I figure I would give it a shot.

For one on startup the message about updating drivers or something says something different, I'll write that down.

But more importantly it doesn't show up. My Computer > Properties shows the same, 512 MB of RAM. But I opened up EVEREST and it showed 512 MB RAM just the same but in the list of memory sticks it lists my new one.

What have I done wrong? I've never installed memory before so do I need to push it in further? (it looked like it couldn't go further, I wanted to be as careful as possible) Do I need to have the sticker near the bottom or what? Thank you.

I shut my PC off, took it out and put it back in and the same thing now.

BTW that message is:

"Verify DMI Pool Data... Update Successful"

It never said the update successful part before. Any other idea on why it's doing this? (btw, never mind about putting it in right, I know I am)

I did it again and now 2 times in a row the stick isn't even listed. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

EDIT: Tried it 3 or 4 times and it doesn't say that new message, show it in the total amount of RAM nor list it as memory in EVEREST. :(

The new stick is in slot 2 though, my old one is in slot 1. Not picking it up whatsoever at the moment.

So put the new stick in slot 1 and the old stick in slot 2 you mean? I'll give it a try.
