A friend of mine has a problem with Lexmark x1180 he bought about a year ago. Several weeks ago, while printing, the device suddenly stopped and freezed the system. Since then, it doesn't print anymore, it hangs up and the pc must be rebooted manually. Same with scanning - it freezes during scan preview. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling several times, put new drivers, reinstalled the system, eventually formated HDD, installed fresh system and even upgraded it to sp2. The only effect is that now the device freezes AFTER completing scan preview and not BEFORE!
my friend's configuration: win xp on celeron 800, 256 MB ram, GF2 mx400 pixelview - don't know what his mainboard is, some Abit i think. The real problem is that his lexmark works smoothly on my Acer notebook (Aspire 1694 with xp home sp2). I had no problems at all, which means there's nothing wrong with the device! My friend called Lexmark tech support in my country (Poland) and they told him he should install new drivers for his mainboard. Would that help? I mean, has mainboard anything to do with the printer's correct functionning? Personnally I doubt it, but at this point I'm willing to try anything. I'd appreciate any suggestion. Thank you |
