Ink has run out. message error.

I have a Canon i550 printer with win. XP. The problem is the ink was low, I replaced the ink tanks. I still get the message the ink is out. I have unplugged the power and usb cable and reconnected, no help. I have turned the printer on and off several times, no help. I have removed the ink tank holder and cleaned reinstalled still no help whats next. Any ideas?

Maybe the error signal has corrupted the driver. You may need to uninstall and reinstall your printer driver. - Do not have any programs running during the driver installation -

Thank you for the reply!
I can not find the CD-ROM for the printer. I would need it to do that correct?

Not necessarily. You may go to the manufacturers website and look for support driver downloads section and enter the model / Os and downlad the executable driver file.
