Re: what is HP4515 DC unit?

Hi and welcome.

I am uncertain as to what he means by DC unit on this printer. There are a couple of DC related units in this product.

You have the following:
  1. DC Controller Board
  2. Drum Drive DC Motor
Which one is wanting to replace?

What symptoms does this printer have to replace the component in question?

Thank you very much!

Re: what is HP4515 DC unit?

Thanks for answering. These are the symptom
HP4515 printer always jams when there is paper in tray 2. they can use tray 3 with no problem, but tray 2 will almost always cause a jam.
What they have done so far:
The engineer came on site today and performed the following steps.

1. Swapped the trays to make sure it was not a tray issue. We got the same error with the trays swapped round.

2. The engineer then tested the motor to make sure the tray was lifting. It appeared to be doing so.

3. Reset the device to factory settings. Problem still persisted.

4. Spoke to hp directly and they had not heard of it before but thought it could be the dc controller.

5. We also replaced all the rollers on tray 2.

I say replace the tray 2.

Re: what is HP4515 DC unit?

Hi and thanks for the additional information.

When you say swapped trays are you saying that you replaced tray 2 and tested it?

If so, then it most likey is the DC Controller. According to the parts listing, the DC Controller runs about $265.00; however, that price doesn't specify whether or not a return part is required.

Thanks!
