HP 2600 won't work at all even if a single cartridge is empty?
I the computer aide for an elementary school... and the school district IT department, the idiots they are, got most of the classrooms these HP 2600 beasts. The cartridges for these things are 80 bucks a piece and there are 4 of them in one printer.
One thing we've noticed is that if even one of the color cartridges goes out, there IS no printing at all. It's not like one of the older inkjets where you could simply print with whatever remaining colors you had. This just won't work. This is bad, because as an elementary school we must have our printers available to us. Downtime is very bad. I did a little search on this and saw that someone else had the same question, and someone responded, and the way it sounded was that it seemed a lost cause but at the same time... there was also mention of some override on the printer itself... something about overriding the part that checks for the cartridges? Could someone clarify this for me? School starts Monday so I want to try to have things going as efficiently as possible by then. Thanks |
