Lexmark Z1420 Print Problems

Hi people,

I am having problems with my Lexmark Z1420 wireless printer.

It has worked fine until recently and I am using on same comp through same broadband router (BT 2110) on Windows XP.

I have done all the usual (uninstall) and I've been on Lexmarks website but nothing useful there.

First, I am totally unable to print anything from Adobe Reader. I keep sending stuff to print and it just disappears into the ether. The print dialogue box doesn't come up, nothing. No error messages. Same problem if trying to print pdf file from within my internet browser.

Computer is communicating with printer no problem so I'm thinking this is a software / settings issue? Can't see any settings in Adobe.

The other problem is I keep getting asked to print alignment page every single time I print and I've not turned the printer off or changed the cartridges. It didn't use to do this, only when changed cartridges now it's asking every time I send something to print. Then I print the alignment page as I'm forced to, tells me to resend my print job and it asks me to print alignment page again, so in effect I cannot actually print anything at the moment.

Before this all started happening I replaced cartridges with non OEM. They were working fine (kind of) although the barrage of error messages every time I printed was driving me nuts so I'm being forced to buy original ones. Even if you select the stop bugging me option they just keep coming. Also that recycle cartridges message, it really p1sses me off.

When I say 'kind of' what I mean is it would only print something when I'd sent it to print twice. The first time it would just disappear, the second time I would get all the messages which I'd need to click through and it would eventually print.

I think it's really rude of Lexmark to harass you when you try to use perfectly good cartridges that don't require a remortgage to buy. So if there's a way to disable the barrage of abuse I'd be ever so grateful.

However immediate problem is how do I get the thing to print :-(

I really like the wireless printer but this thing has turned into a monumental headache.
