HP LaserJet II reverses page order

My ancient HP Laserjet Series II prints out multi-page documents in reverse order. It does this whether or not Printing Preferences for that printer is set Front to Back or Back to Front.
1) Is there some way to control page order by pressing the options on the printer itself? Or . . .
2) Have I inadvertently set some default elsewhere on my computer that overrides the Printing Preferences choice, perhaps when installing my second printer, a Canon MX860 (which, incidentally, prints in the correct order)?

Parallel connection? If you use a multi RJ45 card, try to get a firmware update for it, but I doubt it will be availabe. The driver may have just become corrupt, re-install it.
