Epson Stylus Photo 1280... new print head/cartridges, prints nothing
I got my friends 1280 which hadn't been used in a year or so, so I purchased a new print head because the old one seemed to be clogged. Now I have installed the new print head, put in new cartridges, re initialized the printer, and everything seems to be working except for the fact that even on nozzle check the printer prints no ink on the page. The levels of ink are full and can be seen on the computer, which makes a connection to the printer.
Help? My thought is that the head is not coming into contact with the paper at all, but besides the mechanism on the side of the printer that moves the head up and down, I don't know how to modify the distance between the head and the paper. |

Re: Epson Stylus Photo 1280... new print head/cartridges, prints nothing
If this is an inkjet (must assume so from "Stylus Photo") then I may be able to steer you in the right direction.
My old Epson (and I believe all Epsons) have a plastic tube attached under the print heads. This tube sucks ink from the carts to the heads when the initialize power up phase starts. If the tube falls off (like sooo many times on my CX5100) then no ink is drawn through and thus no printing. BEFORE you start looking at the printer google the tech diagrams and maintenance manuals to make sure you can take it appart and put it back together !!.
