epson printer won't print black
I recently purchased a used Epson C86 printer for my computer with Vista, and I can't get it to print black. It prints the other colors but not black. I am able to read the ink levels, and black is full, since it is a new cartridge. (The black was empty when I got the printer). I have tried more than one new black cartidges, and neither of them work, but they are not Epson cartridges. I will try an Epson black cartridge next, but the other color cartridges that came with the printer work, and they are not Epson brand. Any body know what the problem is? Thanks, Jean

Hello and Welcome to TSF,
Try uninstalling the printer and reinstalling the printer. 1. Turn off pc 2. disconnect printer 3. turn on pc 4. turn off pc 5. hook the printer back up and turn on the pc.
