hp 5550 deskjet prints only partial page

Only the top 1/3 my page prints when I am printing off the internet, i.e. google maps. The test page prints fine, as does a word document.

The other thing that happens is that there is horizontal white banding about every 1/4" or so in the part of the map that does print.

You need to select landscape for that. Banding could be a dirty print head.

If test page and word document prints fine, then theres no problem with the printer. You just need to adjust the settings in your Internet Explorer's print or page setup. Please select the correct paper type and paper size. Make sure all of the settings are correct.

Re: hp 5550 deskjet prints only partial page

Hello and Welcome to TSF,

If none of the above solves the problem then proceed....

Go here for printer driver and software:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...&product=71896

Download:
Driver - HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Driver
Application - HP Photosmart Essential Software for Photo Editing, Printing, and Sharing
Updates

1. Disconnect the printer from pc
2. Uninstall the printer driver and software from add/remove in control panel
clean disc, clean temp folders, and "Reboot pc"

1. Plug in power cord and turn printer on - do not connect the USB cable yet
2. Install driver and software
3. Connect the USB cable when the installation notifies you
4. After installation completes, reboot pc
5. Install updates if any are needed
6. reboot pc
7. Your done

Note: Check your ink levels after reinstalling the printer driver and software.
