Question Epson Stylus C62 -- Help! A little piece fell into printer and I can't get it out!

I had a little wood statue on a shelf over my Epson Stylus C62 printer -- and a little piece of it feel off, into the feed slot at the back of the printer.

My attempts to retrieve it have only made it fall deeper into the bowels of the printer. At this point, it looks like the only way to get it is by opening up the printer.

But I can't figure out how to do that! I've replaced the printer now, so I don't mind using brute force to open it if I have to, but if there's an easier way to get in, I'd prefer that.

So do any of you experts know how to open an Epson C62? Thanks for your help!

Re: Epson Stylus C62 -- Help! A little piece fell into printer and I can't get it out

Hello and Welcome to TSF,

Quite an interesting situation here I see,

Ok grab a hold of the sides of the printer, turn printer slowly upside down
until you hear the piece, see if you can shake it out by shaking it side to side
have printer door open too while your doing this, keep doing this until piece comes out

Note: If piece fell in to it, even though you helped it work its way in further, it should still
come out of printer somewhere.

Actually, the turn-it-over-and-shake-it approach had already occurred to me, and I tried it without success.

Yeah, you'd think so, but no luck so far. Hence my conclusion that opening her up is the only solution left.

Anyone else know how to get inside one of these without just bashing the hell out of it? (This one is now expendable, so if I have to smash it I will!)

Thanks!

Steve

Re: Epson Stylus C62 -- Help! A little piece fell into printer and I can't get it out

I ended up simply standing the printer on end and giving the case a few good whacks with a rubber mallet. It opened right up, and I was able to retrieve my lost object.

Thanks for the link to the Epson site, though -- I'll keep that handy for future reference.

Out of curiosity, does the printer still work now?

Nope. But then it had already been replaced and was redundant. All I wanted was to retrieve the little piece that fell into it before it went in the discard pile.
