HP Deskjet 3940 will not print wordpad documents

Hello. My Deskjet 3940 will not print wordpad documents but it will print photos and I can print my received emails. When I try to print from wordpad the printer appears to be working it goes thru all the montions and makes all the sounds that it would make if it was printing but the paper comes out blank. I went to the HP site and they said since the printer will work they will not help me. Has anyone ever heard of this before? I've heard that people have had to purchase new printers when they installed vista. Any help would be appreciated.

You will kick yourself !
It drove me crazy for 3 days and I had tried everything ! reloading the software, full system restore and pulled what little hair I have OUT !
I had exactly the same problems my printer which is an HP Photosmart 2610 all in one,would print photos and everything else EXCEPT anything from wordpad,notepad or similar ! the pages were coming out blank !
Wait for it !
The solution is so so simple !
As wordpad docs are only usually in BLACK.I decided to change the colour to blue and lo and behold it worked !
Simply my black cartridge was empty ! upon refilling Absolutely everything printed fine !
Sometimes the most simple solution we cannot see !

Yes, please check you black cartridge and also try to change the paper size settings when you print something in your wordpad since your printer works on other applications.
