Hp Photosmart 8180 prints grayscale with color

Hi
I have had this problem for a while now. I like to convert my photos to black and white or shoot them in black and white. However, when I go to print them out I change the settings manually for the 8180 printer, from color to grayscale but my prints have a blueish tinge to them or sometimes it is pink.
I have tried everything I can think of but to no avail I get grayscale prints with a hint of colour. I understand that grayscale is a mixture of ink to make it gray but why the definite color hue. Thanks for any help. Using Win xp sp 2
Regards
Gwen
