USB problem

My HP Photosmart C4385 All-in-one printer/scanner is having problems.

When I try to scan something, it says 'usb not connected' or whatnot.
I thought it was the port on my laptop that was broken, but I switched it with my mouse and it worked. I bought a new cord but it still doesn't work. I figure then it must be the USB port on the printer itself, but it's practically brand-new!

check the port it is set to in the printer setup page

Port is correct.

try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them

remember to disconnect usb cable while installing the driver and software
the installation will tell you to connect the usb cable, you can leave printer on though.
