HP 4240 New Install Won't Print

Brand new HP all in one 4240 installed fine using CD included with printer. Copy works, scanner works but printing is messed up. No matter what program I try to use to print something it doesn't even make it to the spooler. I get the error: "Program encountered a problem and must be closed. Send report to MS?.. Blah, blah".

It doesn't matter weather I try to print e-mails, web pages, notebook pages, pictures - each program shuts down before sending the print job to the spooler. I've deleted all of the other printers so this is the only one. I also downloaded a patch from HP's website which did nothing. I also used the driver from their site and it told me that the most up to date driver was already in use.

If I go into control panel > printers and right click the printer and click properties I get this error: "Function Address 0x500a0490 caused a protection fault (exception code 0xc0000005). Some or all property pages may not be displayed."

Any ideas? Thanks

Re: HP 4240 New Install Won't Print

Hello and Welcome to TSF,

Update your antivirus and antispyware programs and run a full scan of pc.

There are online scanners to use also for this:
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/
This one here, after it downloads the databases, choose deep scan and
disconnect from online.

Let me know the results.
