Epson Stylus SX600 Print Problem
Ok here goes...
I have an Epson SX600 and so far it's been great with the ink cartridges that came with the printer... Now I've replaced the cartridges with 'pro jet' cartridges (which had great reviews and are listed as compatible) and it won't print properly. It recognises the cartridges, ink levels and model number but won't print. Just blank pages or very light etc. The ink seems to be noticed but not able to come out... Any ideas? I've ran head clean on the printer a few times to no avail. I've tried nozzle test and it barely prints anything. Is this some sort of blockage or something???????? Thanks |

Re: Epson Stylus SX600 Print Problem
Its hard for generic cartridges to reproduce the exact same ink and unfortunately ink is not just coloured water.. To claim an ink compatible it means that it was tested and that most of the time it will work but its still impossible to guarantee that its gonna work.
Possible problems with generic ink are: Faint or random colors caused by a possible bad reaction with chemicals (youll see that mostly with very cheap brand compatibles) Blank prints caused by a different level of ink thickness, it means that it might have blocked your nozzles. I have never heard of a blockage other than with the sensors and most of them can be bypassed. Blank print is actually a head problem.

Re: Epson Stylus SX600 Print Problem
Yeah I've googled the problem and it seems that blockage is a big problem with Epson models. The ink has been smudged when the black cartridge ran out and it's covered the print heads. Every print clean is now just adding to the ink so it gets worse. I've ordered a cleaning kit which people swear by so fingers crossed I can sort it in a few days...

Re: Epson Stylus SX600 Print Problem
Its not just with epson... There are around 3 major components... like the mainboard, printheads and the whole paperfeeding system. So when a printer fail you have about 1/3 chances that it is a printhead failure, regardless of the company.

Re: Epson Stylus SX600 Print Problem
Hi all
I have exactly the same problem. Same printer SX600, as soon as the cartridges that came with the printer ran out same things happened ! IE Would not print... I took the printer to a shop and they did ran 7 or so head cleans I had bought an Epson cartridge and the printer worked but ONLY with Epson cartridges. Looks like I am going to have to use Epson only ! Which is a real issue as they are 3 times the price.
