HP Photosmart All-In-One C4280 printing problems

Hi, new here, hope I can find help here.

I bought the HP Elite (I think thats what its called) last year it came with the printer/scanner combo. I recently installed the printer and it will not print .xlr .txt .doc or anything EXCEPT websites through File -> Print
I uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice, looked all over the web and found dead ends.
When trying to print a txt or spreadsheet (.xlr) it will pull the paper through, sound like its printing only for about 10 seconds and push the rest of the paper though blank.
Am I going to have to make my spreadsheets into an HTML and print them through a website or what lol.

Well its probably something stupid or I'm overlooking something, but any help is apreciated and thanks in advance.

Hello,

That one might be too hard for me but I will still give my two cent;

1. Go to control panel and printers and faxes, right click your printer and hit properties. Go to the Advanced tab and make sure you check PRINT DIRECTLY TO PRINTER. This will skip the spooling part and maybe help you print full pages.

2. If the problem persists change the resolution to the minimum and see if it gives you full pages.

Is the C4280 a laser or inkjet printer?

Re: HP Photosmart All-In-One C4280 printing problems

Hey godspeeed thanks for taking some time here.
The printer is an inkjet.
Alright I checked in the advanced tab and there isn't a print directly to paper option anywhere.
I forgot to mention in my original post that it WILL print a test page but only the color portions, no b&w. And when I do print a webpage it will not print any black at all, all the text or anything that is black prints in gray.
So i disabled color printing turned on grayscale - use black ink only... nothing still. I even took out the color ink and left the black ink in and tried printing, still nothing.
I read something about disabling the UAC, I'll give that a try next, can't right now, gotta run.
Well thanks again (in advance) if there is a solution.

If there is a test page feature directly on the printer please print it. If there is no black printing it is most likely a print head issue instead of software.

On some software, the color ink will be used to produce black, this is probably why your able to get prints from certain software and certain others are spitting blank pages because theyre actually working with your blocked black nozzle.

Re: HP Photosmart All-In-One C4280 printing problems

There is no test page feature on the printer. So last night my wife tried printing directions from a website, now it wouldn't even print so I get an earful, I was ready to rip the thing apart. So I uninstall it again and reinstall it and it printed the webpage. Now I decided to try another document, nothing. So instead of black text I made it blue and it printed, I tried red it printed...
The printer had 2 ink cartridges a color and a black, I took out he black and rubbed a little rubbing alcohol on a rag on the part where the ink comes out and ink was on the rag so it can't possibly be blocked up or anything plus its new and never even printed a page.
Well, again thanks for your input and knowledge. I'll probably be back with another problem in the future lol.
Take it easy godspeeed.
