Dell A10 Printer A940 - job stuck in delete mode

Hi all. My daughter was on the internet and tried to print several pages from her college professor's website. She came to me because the pages weren't printing. There were three print jobs in the queue. The first print job was 6 pages (8mb) and wasn't printing so she tried to cancel. The Status bar in the Control Panel/Printers/A10 Printer A940 shows "deleting - printing" and has remained hung up for over 24 hours. For some reason, the Port field shows "USB001". I was able to cancel the two other print jobs. These two did not have an entry in the Port field. Could it be that the computer is looking for a print job at a USB port? What does that mean? I don't have anything hooked into the USB ports on my computer.

So, the job won't print. The printer is enabled and in Normal mode. I've turned it off and disconnected to clear out any data in the line. I put it back on line and tried sending a Word doc to the printer. I am getting no communication with the printer, i.e., no message on the computer screen that it is trying to send the document.

I tried the "restart" and "resume" options on the printer status page and it does nothing. The status of the print job remains "deleting - printing".

Does anyone know what's going on here?

Thanks much.

Go into services and restart the print spooler.

Start-settings-control panel-administrative tools-services----> print spooler (start)

Re: Dell A10 Printer A940 - job stuck in delete mode

Thanks for your suggestion. I actually resolved the problem before your response by deleting and then re-adding the printer. That's the only thing that would work

As info, I did try to follow your procedure but I could not find a "settings" selection after hitting the Start key.

Thanks much for your time!
