HP PSC 1400 stalled on "check cartridge"

Hi all,

Am running Mac system 10.4.11 on a desktop Imac. My HP PSC 1400 stopped on "check print cartridge" after I put in a new color cartridge. I accidentally removed the black cartridge first, which was replaced about six weeks ago but printed strongly on the last printout. Both cartridges fit perfectly but I haven't been able to get it to perform since replacing the color.

Any thoughts?

Take both out again, clean the contacts with alcohol, re-install. If that doesn't work, take out both cartridges again, turn off, and unplug the power cord, wait 15 min. plug the power cord back in, turn on the printer and re-install the cartridges. If that fails, one of the cartridges is faulty, and needs replacing.
