Toshiba 281C - Fax
I want to set up the Toshiba to fax however in the manual it says that the optional fax unit must be installed. However, there is no info in the manual about installing the fax unit.
If anyone has set their machine up to fax please advise. Thanks! |

Re: Toshiba 281C - Fax
Hi and welcome to the forum. This is an all in one, right? Everything should be on the cd/dvd that came with the unit. Have you begun installation yet?

Re: Toshiba 281C - Fax
The toshiba 281c has to have a GD1200 fax unit. after the unit is installed
you have to hold down the 1 and * keys and turn the copier on. When the screen has test mode you type in 100 and press start. The copier will ask you to initialize the fax. That is all you need to set up the fax no software is needed. Plug the phone line into the upper rj-11 and fax away. |

Re: Toshiba 281C - Fax
Thank you both for your responses. I will check out the cd that came with it. I inherited this machine and am trying to get as much use out of it as possible.
One question still...is the fax unit an optional bit of equipment that has to be purchased or is it built in? |

Re: Toshiba 281C - Fax
the fax unit is an option. It sits right above the system board. The instruction to install
the fax unit comes with the unit. The 281c does come with a print controller and a scan unit; but the fax unit is an options. in fact the gd1200 has been replace with a gd1201 but both will work. I just install a gd1201 this morning. it is not hard at all. takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Respectfully Miyagi |
