printer help, :S:S:S

basic i know but its doing my nut in

epson dx7400 printer

when installing the software on the cd rom it asks to turn on the printer so it can find it for settings etc but it doesnt pick it up , and says i have to set it up mannualy i dont know which port etc it needs to be set to

any ideas why its not picking it up

and yeah it is conected lmao, i'm using a usb to printer if that makes any differnce :S
