Printer driving me crazy!!
Ok heres the deal. I have this printer i've had for like 4 years and has always worked no problem. Its a cannon USB and I just plug it into my desktop and it installs it self and has always worked perfectly with my desktop over the last 4 years. The desktop is windows xp.
I got this laptop a couple months ago. It has windows vista. So after I got it i plugged my printer usb into it and it intalled itself and worked perfectly. Last week the printer ran out of ink durring a print job. So I got new ink from the store, came home, put it in the printer, and tried to finish printing. But it wouldnt work, so long story short I uninstallted the pritner and thought I could just plug it in and it would install it self like it always has. But now when I plug my USB into my laptop I hear a beep, so the computer knows I plugged something in, but it doesnt say "Found new hardware" or doesnt install the drivers and stuff, or it doesnt do anything at all. And even when I click add new printer in control panel it doesnt install it. This is what I've tried: 1: Tried plugging the usb printer into all the other usb ports of my laptop, still same problem. 2: Mouse & mp3 work in all usb ports of laptop so thats not the problem. 3: I can plug my printer usb into my desktop, and it automaticlly installs like it supossed to and I can print perfectly fine from my desktop, so I know its not a problem with installing the drivers when I plug it in, or any problem with the printer at all. So its gotta be something with windows vista not working properly I think. B/c I can uninstall the printer drivers at any time on my desktop, replug in my printer and it always re-installs them and works just fine. Its just on vista it only worked that first time, and now it wont work anymore. Someone help me please, its so annoying starting up my desktop, and copying files over just to print stuff out that I want. |
