Canon Pixma MP500 printing is corrupted

I have a Canon Pixma MP500 and when I go to print anything, it prints the correct material but then print over it with text from some ancient file. Same if I want to use the copy facility. If I use another printer, there is no problem. Have downloaded from Canon the latest driver but no change. Help would be appreciated..

Re: Canon Pixma MP500 printing is corrupted

Did you un-install the old driver first, before installing the "new" driver? Also, if using the install disk that came with the printer. Make sure you un-install all drivers for the printer, then turn the printer off, then install via the driver disk, the instructions in the installation program will instruct you when to turn on the printer.

Re: Canon Pixma MP500 printing is corrupted

Thanks for your reply. I have done all that you suggested several times already and just tried again. The only difference with your suggestion was when using the Canon disk it said that there was a compatability problem with Vista and Microsoft referred me to a download from Canon..(see below) and that is what I have been using.. No change.
