Question Canon BJC-250 driver needs reinstalled on every reboot

My mom has a Canon BJC-250. She is running Windows XP. Every time I reboot the computer I need to reinstall the printer driver in order to get the printer to work. If I don't reinstall the driver, the BJC-250 icon in the taskbar is still there with the printer jobs all in queue but nothing happens. In her device manager, there are no printers listed. So every time, I have to go erase all the print jobs then erase the printer and then reinstall it. I have tried different drivers and still get the same result. She wants to go buy a new printer but I told her she may still have the same problem because I don't think there is anything wrong with the printer itself. Please help.
