Canon Inkjet PIXMA ip5000 - help plz!

My Canon Inkjet PIXMA ip5000 is shown on the control panel as status "ready" but when it comes to printing, it tries to connect printer status but then reads "printer not responding"

What could be wrong and how do i sort it?
PleaSE someone help!

Sounds like a cable problem to me....Try a different usb port, and a different usb cable...that probably will do it - good luck!!
