Brother MFC240C seems to fry my usb ports!
I have had two MFC240C printers. Last summer my computer locked up, and after a lot of testing and work I found that if I disconnected the MFC240C from the USB port, the system would operate. Usually if I left the printer turned off, the computer was OK, but at some point after I turned the printer back on, the computer and mouse would freeze up. Since it was out of warranty, I bought a new MFC240C, and that worked fine, though I seemed to have lost at least one USB port and maybe a hub permanently in the process.
Yesterday the new MFC240C printer locked up the computer until I disconnected it, and it appears to have taken out another USB port (and one more paralleled to that one). Has anyone else had this problem? |
