Printers and Print Servers
My issue or question really is this, I do a lot of computer support and often I am required to add a printer to someone's computer.
This is generally an easy task, I will be able to determine the print server and just find the printer and add it. On occasion though I will only have access to the printer IP, I can map the printer by IP but the preferred method is still to go through the print server. Is there a way to determine which print server a printer is on, according to the IP address? You can reverse look up a computer, but it does not seem like it is possible to determine the printer name on the printer server, or even the print server using just the IP. Sometimes when you add a printer it will say PRINTER on SERVERNAME but often when I have only the IP I do not get this display. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Tehedra |
