Incorrect Print Color
I have a Dell A940 All in One printer that prints all color characters in a near red color. The black characters are printing ok. I have cleaned, reset and aligned the cartridges. I am running an old dell system with w2k.
Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Re: Incorrect Print Color
It does sound like a clogged print head. The reason your color changed is because whichever color has the clogged print head is not getting through and onto the paper.
Run a test page/nozzle check pattern, clean your print head 3-4 times, run another test pattern and you should see a difference. It may take more print head cleanings to completely unclog the print head. |

Re: Incorrect Print Color
Mick, I started to respond yesterday but cancelled out. I had wanted to ask if you had tried another color cartridge in you printer but posing such a question seemed so obvious as border on insulting your intelligence.
Another suggestion you might consider...it does sound, as Mannu123 suggested, that some of the nozzles in the cartridge's print head are clogged. If you have a Cartridge World store within a reasonably close distance to you, you might take the cartridge to them and ask them to check it out for you. They can test it and clean it out far better than your printer can. While you're there, you might also see about getting a second cartridge. Unless you only print on rare occasions, it's always a good idea to have a back-up of each cartridge that goes in your printer. That way, if something goes awry, you can insert the back-up and either continue printing or at least find out if there's a problem with the printer instead of the print cartridge. f |

Well, I was trying to save the $30 for a new cartridge. I did go back to Office Depot and talked to a nice guy who said he would replace the cartridge for free. It was more than 1/2 full. I replaced the cartridge and everything is fine now. Thanks to all for your advice.
