Hp photosmart A440 series

I have a HP PHOTOSMART A440 printer (connected with a USB) I can't get it to print anything from my computer. It works fine with the camera that came with it. The device manager marks it as "other devices" even though I have installed the drivers. I tried changing ports, resetting spool settings, adding other ports, manually installing the printer and drivers...

When I install the software that came with the printer it gets to the part where it tells you to plug in your device.. when I plug the printer in the software does not detect the printer (device) at all.

My computer does detect that it's there when plugged in so I know it's not the USB in my computer. I changed the actual USB cord also to make sure that it wasn't the cord causing the problem. I defragged my hard drive (for some reason) None of those things worked for me. I did notice that when I tried the test print on USB001 a message came up telling me the print failed... when connected to USB002 or 003 It just put the test print in the queue without any messages. Does anyone have any ideas on what else I could try? I really want to get this working! Hp chat support didn't really help me much. Thank you

Thank you for the information. Do you know if pictures will print if the battery light is flashing on the photosmart A440 while the camera is docked ? I've tried to print but the photos come out red. My battery charger says that the batteries are fully charged, but the light blinks on the photosmart printer.....HELP!
