Are Epson Inkjet Printers Junk?

I have owned several Epson inkjet printers and it seems I consistently encounter the problem with the cyan head. It's the only head that seems to develop problems. I run the SSC Service Utility's "powerful cleaning" and it still comes up with messed up lines. I know there's plenty of ink in the cartridge. All the other heads are fine.

I was told by a printer dealer that Epson has consistently had problems with the cyan head. Well, I have two identical printers: Epson Stylus Photo R340 and one has this problem but the other one doesn't.

Can anyone confirm whether there is anything else that can be done to resolve the printer head problem or is my one printer (near new) toast?

Re: Are Epson Inkjet Printers Junk?

Hi zak and welcome to TSF.
I've had numerous Epson printers over the last 10+ years and I have to confess I've not had a problem with any of them. Perhaps you've just been unlucky.

Re: Are Epson Inkjet Printers Junk?

I have done some more research and I have been told that the print heads on inkjet computers can get clogged or have dried ink due to non-regular use. Beyond going through the clean head cycle which might help most situations, the next step is to use a syringe with a plastic tube fitting and cleaning solution to rinse the print head. There are several venders online who can supply you with this kit.
It's $10.00 plus shippping so it's better than filling the landfill with another printer!!!
