hp laserjet p2015n
I have a problem with configuring the above mentioned printer on my pc running on winxp . everytime it ends where the software asks for connecting the USB cable to PC and hangs.

I take it, you've followed the instructions on how to install it? Sometimes you need to install the software before connecting the printer.
To be honest though, I've only had bad experiences with this particular model of HP printer. |

Please install the software and choose the connect the printer later and continue the installation. After the installation, delete the printer icon from the control panel, printers. And insert the cd sw and choose the option add a device. If this still won't detect the printer go to Device Manager and look for any unknown device/yellow question mark symbol. Right click on the unknown device and choose update driver. It should fix the problem.

Go here for driver and software unless you have cd for printer: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...5&swEnvOID=228 Proper installation of printer: 1. turn on pc, plug in power cord to printer and turn on printer. 2. Install the driver and software, connect the USB cable when told to by installation 3. reboot pc Install any update or patches need for the printer.

These printers have a bad bad history with their formatter board.
One of my customers had one with your symtoms and still under warranty. I called HP (very painful call) and found out the customer would have to pay shipping to HP to get warranty service. I took it to a local HP warranty dealer (only one left around here). The formatter was on back order from HP so the repair took about 3 weeks, but it worked. Rob S |
