Samsung Printer losing driver?
I have a Samsung CLX-3160FN networked to 3 computers. Everything worked fine for a year. One day, in the middle of the day, it stopped printing from all 3 computers. It still copied and faxed fine. Reinstalling the driver solved the problem. However, the next day, upon booting up the computers, the problem occurred again. Again, reinstalling the driver solved the problem. And that's now been going on for a couple weeks. We have to reinstall the driver every morning, on any computer that we're going to use for printing. If there are any print jobs in the queue, it will start printing mid-installation.
We don't think it's the network itself, since once the software is installed, everything prints fine from each computer. What could be going on that the driver gets lost if the computer is turned off, and how can we fix it? We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and we have tried turning the printer off as well. Thanks... |

Re: Samsung Printer losing driver?
It is a network-related issue.
Do you have a static IP assigned to the printer? You shoul. You have probably had no issues previously because it was using an IP address that no other machine or device was taking. This is resolved by configuring the printer with a static IP on your LAN (via the control panel on the printer itself) and updating each workstation's printer entry thereafter.

Re: Samsung Printer losing driver?
Thank you...I *think* the printer has its own IP address. During the installation process for the driver, it searches for the printer. It does come up in a box that gives an IP address. Does this mean that it really does have its own IP address and the problem is something else? Or is there some parameter of that IP address that needs to be changed? Thank you for your help.
