EpsonCX5000rejectsgenuineEpsoncartridges

I have just tried to install a full set of Epson cartriges which I bought from Epson. The printer will not recognize any of them and doesnit even go through the charging process> I have unplugged the printer and disconnected it from the computer several times. I have also reseated the cartridges several times> Am at wits end. Help!

I had the same problem with a customer's CX8400 and since he was using compatible cartridges I got for him, he blamed the cartridges. Then he tried genuine Epson and got the same error. I looked into his printer with a flashlight and found a sliver of metal from a previous cartridge stuck to the pins which touch the cartridge. It was shorting something out and causing the cartridge not to be recognized. Upon removing it, the printer recognized the epson and the compatibles.
If you get the printer working, try http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp for compatible cartridges which work well.
