epson DX8450 help

HI,
I bought a new Epson DX8450 printer/scanner. got it all set up. followed instuctions to the letter.
to start with everytime i tried to print i got an error msg on my screen telling me that all the ink has run out. when i do an ink check on the printer it says they are all half full (the way they came in the box). so decided to uninstall everything and start again.
now the computer wont even recognise that the printer exists.. help i'm at my whits end. (oh and i'm really computer illiterate so any replies please talk to me like a fool thanks)
thanks in advance...sam

Hi snakesam13!

Did you installed the driver for the printer yet? Or did you already installed the software for the printer yet?
