Parallel port problem

Hi All
Hope someone can help me

I am having problem printing thru my parallel port on my PC- (XP Home edition). My printer and cable is fine- works on my friends PC. But my friend's Laser Printer does not work on my PC. I can print using the USB port but my Old LASEJET - HP does not have USB facility.
When I try to print- I can see document in queue- but nothing happens- no error messages at all.
So far I have checked my BIOS settings- port enabled etc. I have uninstalled the driver, printer and the LPT1 port and reinstalled - but made no difference.
I have been using the same printer for many years and has never given any problem and have not made any changes to settings etc
Can someone PLEASE PLEASE help

Smiler

Re: Parallel port problem

Hi Dai

No there is no yellow alongside the Lpt Port on the device manager. Even then I did uninstall the port and then rebooted- the port appeared correctly again in my device manager.

Still no joy

Re: Parallel port problem

Hi All

Its a HP Laserjet series II and also BROTHER HL1450-have tried several printers - none work on my PC but all work on other PCs. The brother which has a USB connection works thru USB port on my PC but none of them work thru Parallel port on MY PC

Regards
