HP Photosmart C5280 - won't print, print jobs deleted from queue, duplicate installs

Have had this printer since Christmas. It works fairly well though it does seem slow much of the time.

Noticed originally that it was installed as HP Photosmart (1), then later on another copy with (2), then another copy with (3).

When problems printing several days ago, deleted all versions and reinstalled, which seemed to work.

Today, couldn't print and behold - 3 versions again. Took the same steps of deleting all versions and reinstalling, restarted PC and it still won't print. The job will appear in the print queue and then after a few minutes, deletes "by itself".

Any ideas welcomed!

jemcpa88,

What version of Windows are you running?

I would "ditch" the CD that came with the printer and instead, go to HP's support site and download the most recent printer driver for your HP model and the version of Windows you're running.

Before you do this, I would go into Control Panel, Add/Remove programs and UNINSTALL any software related to this HP printer.

Go to:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...e=255&lang=en&

Select the OS you're running and download the appropriate drivers/software for your model. This site also contains lots of FAQs and troubleshooting advice for your HP printer.
