Print spooler problem-Lexmark, XP prof
I am using XP Professional on fairly new Sony Vaio notebook and have a new Lexmark 9300 printer. It has never worked. After spending what seemed like hours on the phone with Lexmark Technical support, and under their guidance, installing and uninstalling the printer drivers numerous times, they have concluded that I have a print spooler problem but have offered no ideas on how to fix the problem. When the printer is installed, all jobs go into the queue and nothing prints. Some of the jobs are impossible to delete even when you turn the machine off. Sony has suggested returning the machine to its original factor settings but I've spoken to a technical person who said it is very doubtful that will do anything for a print spooler problem and even though everything would be backed up, I'd probabaly lose all of my passwords for a gazillion sites--something I'm not looking forward to losing. I am not very technical but I am willing to hire a technical person if that's what it takes to get a printer to work on my computer. I just don't want to pay for hours while someone plays around trying to find a fix. The people I;ve spoken to who are technical don't seem to have a good handle on how to fix this problem other than the things I've done with Lexmark on the phone. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: [SOLVED] Print spooler problem-Lexmark, XP prof
Thanks but this issue isn't solved because I got my hands on an XP prof disk and followed your kind directions and while I found files that were damaged none related to the print spooler.

Re: Print spooler problem-Lexmark, XP prof
Now that you have your hands on a real XP cd, you can do a repair install. This just reloads Windows and leaves all your data intact.
Let me know if you need instuctions on this.
