New here... need help

Hi... just bought a Toshiba estudio 3511 (used). The computer I hooked it up to uses Vista for OPs. I was able to print some things from some graphic programs, and printed a couple of Word documents, then it QUIT... and refuses to print anything, including Word documents. I saw a thread about this same printer here, and the fellow said he got the CORRECT driver for this printer.... does the Toshiba site now house the CORRECT driver for this printer now? I have checked all of the settings (spool, etc) to make sure they say auto, but still to no avail. I need to print company invoices from Qbooks, and nothing will print... any help would be greatly appreciated as I am ready to pick up the computer and throw is from the roof of the building! Oh... and I have no idea how to change the fax number either, as the only manual it came with was a Basic Guide, and there is no mention of changing the fax number... please help.

Re: New here... need help

Thnx... yes I made sure that the 3511 was the default printer. I went to Toshiba and the zipped file they have for Vista has NOTHING in it... no setup.exe file, just info files and some .ppd files. Toshiba says it is the ONLY file that will work with Vista and yet they do not even have it to download!

Re: New here... need help

Thanks! I have looked at the drivers from arenagroup, but there is no driver for Vista... and I am told the one for XP does not work for Vista. I had installed several from the Toshiba site, only to find none of them worked..

I finally got so frustrated that I called Toshiba support, and they got me in touch with Toshiba in my city and the tech had me print off some list and read the version of firmware that it had.... turns out the firmware needs an upgrade before my 3511 will even work on Vista... soooo... long story short, they have to send out a service guy at $150/hr to install the firmware (cost unknown)... maybe not such a good deal for this printer after all. Only good thing about talking directly with Toshiba rather than local printer repair company (who did NOT know how to resolve my issues), Toshiba Tech knew my machine, how to bypass previous owner's pass codes, said he would give me a manual at no cost AND provide me with a CD loading disk... yay! I am anxiously awaiting the tech to come now and get my printer finally working with our shop computers. Thanks everyone for your input... will keep my fingers crossed that all will end well.
