[SOLVED] Lexmark C750 not recognising optional tray

A C750 died recently and I have bought a s/h low page count unit to replace it. Most functions work fine but it does not recognise the duplex and second 500 page trays from the other unit.

I have scanned the menu and diagnostic menu with no joy. Any help appreciated.
John.

Re: Lexmark C750 not recognising optional tray

Dear John

What happens if you remove the options(duplex,500 sheet tray)?
Does the printer work fine as a stand alone?
If it does and only posts a problem with the options attached then it could possibly be the connector that links the printer to the options that is faulty or pins are broken/bent.Could also be the connectors on the system board. Also check that you have the duplex connected above the optional 500 sheet tray.

Thank You
Kind Regards

Re: Lexmark C750 not recognising optional tray

Hi Nareek,

The printer works fine with or without the optional trays attached. There is no error message, simply the trays are not recognised. For instance, paper choices only permit the main tray or the side tray. The trays are in the correct order. When I have some help to move the machine I will examine the connectors. System board connectors are all in place and pushed home. I will compare them with another unit.

Thank you for the input.
John

Razz Re: Lexmark C750 not recognising optional tray

Pulled the printer apart today and checked the connectors on the trays. A connector on the duplexer tray had been displaced. Trays are now recognised and all is working again. Thanks again for the pointer. This thread is now closed
