64 vista printing wirelessly

HI all.
How do I set up the computer in order to print wirelessly?
I have a Hp PSC 1610 all in one, and a hp laptop with vista operating system in it, 64 bit. I'm connecting thru a router to internet.
Someone please, teach me how to set it up or how to do it, so I can print wireless..

Thanks

Re: 64 vista printing wirelessly

I am assuming that alls you have is the one laptop connected to the Net via your wireless router. If your router doesn't have a built-in printserver (I haven't seen one that does in a long time) you need to get a printserver. Of course, if you have another computer connected to the router wirelessly or via an ethernet cable (and it has a usb printer plugged into it) you could set it to share printers but then you have to also have that computer running when you want to print from the laptop.

You can get a wired ethernet prinserver and plug it into the router (your printer would need to be near the router) or a Network Attached Storage drive that has a printserver (like the HP Mediavaults) but again the printer would be connected to the printserver by its usb cable and the NAS would be connected via an ethernet wire to the router.

Or... you can get a wireless printserver, connect to your router wirelessly then put it and your printer anywhere within wireless range.

I have run all these setups at one time or another. My current is NetGear wireless printserver on a cart wth 2 printers, one b&w laser and one inkjet. I can print from any computer in the house to either printer. Both printers power down automatically after use. It's a nice setup. :-)

Re: 64 vista printing wirelessly

I'm having a similar problem. I have a home pc connected to a hp psc1355 printer. That all works fine. I have two new laptops running vista basic that are sharing files and folders ok, but will not share the printer. When I try to access the printer from the laptop it says " Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access denied". It used to work from my old xp laptops, but wont with these new ones. I have set the printer to shared, and it can be seen by the laptops. Simple answers please, I'm a BMW technician and know only a little about pc's.
