Printer Communication
heya guys, does anybody know how a printer actually communicates with the motherboard and stuff, i'm at a loose end here.

![]() Well first it talks with a certain part of the motherboard called the Southbridge Chipset. It handles the operations from USB's, etc. More information on the Northbridge/Southbridge can be found here: http://arstechnica.com/articles/paed...-guide-1.ars/3 Then commands are interpreted by the OS by the drivers, and it prints. Thats as far as I know, printers are known to have minds of their own for their weird actions. My printer recalibrates its printer cartridges, without me having to set anything, woke me up at 1:00 AM once
