Question HP 3210 All-in-One Copy error message

Hi all. New here and looking for help! I've had and used my HP 3210 for a couple years now and it has worked perfectly in every way. Suddenly, when making copies, I'm getting an error message, "Paper size detected is not supported." Makes no sense. The paper tray is still full of the same paper I've been using forever (bought 5000 sheets at Costco!). I can make a copy by going to HP Solution Center and manually changing paper source and size, but that's a pain, especially when trying to make copies if the computer is off.

I was on an HP support site and found that others are also having this same problem, all within the past couple of weeks! What's up with that?!

I'd appreciate any suggestions or advice. Thanks much!

Re: HP 3210 All-in-One Copy error message

As I said in my original post, when I saw that so many other people on other support forums were also getting this error message, I thought sure there would be a solution posted by somebody before too long. Guess no one could figure it out!

The problem continued and was getting extremely irritating so I went and spent a couple of hours on HPs support site and finally figured out what to do, even though I never did find the exact error message we've all been getting.

Basically, the fix is to change the paper size default setting in the Copy Menu from Automatic to Letter. You do this by pressing Copy, then #6, select Letter (which is #2), and that will bring you back to the Copy Menu. Scroll down through all 10 selections until you get to the bottom which is Set New Defaults and select this.

I've tried making several copies and it has worked every time now...no error message in sight! However, if you're trying to make copies onto paper other than standard 8.5x11, you'll have to select that with each individual job since the default will no longer be an "Automatic" detection.

Hope this helps everyone else who has had this annoying problem!
