Re: hp psc 1610 cannot print with VISTA 64 bit

I have the exact same printer, works nicely.
Try this driver:

I tried it. I uninstalled the one I had and install the new one with this link but is the same thing. I can't print.
When I try to print a word doc it prompts with the window that says to save the file as an .xls (even though is saved before as a .doc) and then at the bottom of the screen it looks like is trying to print but then fails to print anything. Even in the "print jobs" it says 0 print jobs waiting.
I dont know what to do.......

This vista thing is making me crazy.

HELP>>>

During installation I followed the procedure of the HP solution center, at the beginning was unplugged then said to plug the usb(anyway I dont thing is a matter of usb cable plugged but a driver thing). everything installed succesfully, but when I try to print for some reason I doesn't. Weird??

After installation I rebooted the laptop and disconnected the usb then plugged it in again and is the same thing but know I keep getting window messages as "found new hardware" like I haven't installed anything??

After I hit download driver software, It looks like is downloading sth but at the end it says"windows could not find driver software for your device".

Re: hp psc 1610 cannot print with VISTA 64 bit

Right click MYCOMPUTER, and click manage. You will see device menu on the left panel there click it. Go to universal serial bus at the bottom of device menu, and find the HP PSC 1610(it may say PSC 1600 series). Double click on that to open it up. Go to the driver tab and at the bottom click uninstall driver, follow the instructions to uninstall.

Parallel is the old printer connection(LPT1), most new printers now use USB though, but most motherboards still have them. You shouldnt have to worry about this.

sometimes you will have problems such as what you are having if you improperly installed the drivers with the usb cable plugged in so it had to be asked.

Thank you. In my vista OS i have device manager (instead device menu) in the left panel. I clicked it and went to universal serial bus controllers on the right side. There was no hp pcs 1610 or equivalent there.
The only options were:
1. Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controllers
2. Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controllers
3. USB Root Hub
4. USB Root Hub

Yes, i agree. It hasn't recognized it. But when I use HP solution center to scan , I can scan without any problems. But when I try to print, doesn't recognize any printer... This is very sad..

Anyway thanks.

Do you have the Basic or Full driver installed from the HP.com website? If you don't, install the full driver/software. This should resolve any problems.

Re: hp psc 1610 cannot print with VISTA 64 bit

on the downoad page, it says basic or full. The link i gave you is the basic, but I contacted HP support about your problem and they told me to download the full one.
Type in your printer name on HP.com and select software and drivers. Choose Vista 64-bit and pick the FULL driver. Its quite bigger but thats the one to use.
