Printer feed problem

I have a HP Photosmart 2570 ink jet printer. It has worked fine until yesterday. I had a paper jam, which I cleared through the back. Then I received a message about a tricolor cartridge jam. I closed this message; however, after that when I told the printer to print the paper fed past the first line of print and moved at least half way down the page. Then the message came up to remove the paper jam. There was no jam, just the piece of paper that had fed in. I pulled it out through the back, pressed OK and another sheet fed in with the same result. I could never get the printer to print because each sheet ended up past the printer line and the paper jam message came on. I could press cancel and the paper would go ahead and spool out but another sheet would feed in. I could also press OK and the same thing happens. I spent hours on the phone with HP chat tech with no result. Is this a repairable condition or do I just toss it in the recycle bin and make HP happy by buying another printer?

Re: Printer feed problem

Well you will not make HP happy so much as the phone agent you are talking to. HP (and probably the rest) sell their printers at cost. If you buy them directly from HP then we make some money owing to the fact that we match the stores prices. When it comes to printers HP makes its money from ink sales.

Anyway if you have an error that cannot clear then the printer might be done. I take it that you have cleaned the rollers and done some resets and checked that the ink carriage can move. If not then let me know and I will give some details (don't try to do these on your own unless you have experience doing them.) If you have then yea I would just get a new printer.
