Very unhappy with print server
Just bought and installed a print server, only to find out that hardly any printers will work with it.The packing and literature states 'simply plug in your USB printer' etc.. I've since found out that my Canon Pixma is a DPI or 'Hosted' printer, and this print server doesn't support that type. So what type of printer am I supposed to use with a print server then? I could go and buy a 'networkable' printer, but then this would plug straight into my router anyway, so what's the point of the print server? ![]()

Re: Very unhappy with print server
Just read the following statement from another print server manufacturer's website:
"Note! All host-based Canon printers using the the technologies CAPT or Canon Advanced Raster Printing" Seems like a bit of a mess all this.... |

Re: Very unhappy with print server
Print servers are over rated. If you have a AiO (All in One) it will lose most of its other functions. This kind of thing works best for simple SFP (Single Function Printers) printers.
Furthermore, if you have trouble setting it up, tech support usually doesn't cover it. I am not saying there isn't a place for them, but you really have to know what you are doing and have a plan before you get one of these. |
