HP Deckjet 610C(L) Problems
HP website and all request that this particular printer be manually installed from add new printers and choosing the company and model of the printer to install, as the driver is supposely already on Windows XP OS/Disc.
Problem I been having is it seems no communication is reaching the printer, the printer in the printers and faxes is listed as HP Deskjet 610C and is the default printer, but no communication is seeming to get to it, not even new hardware option is detecting it, what could the problem be?

Re: HP Deckjet 610C(L) Problems
Your USB Printer Support driver may be corrupt. To check this:
Start (Windows Flag) => Settings => Control Panel =>System, clicky the Hardware tab, then clicky the Device Manager button. Scroll down to the USB drivers, and see if there is a yellow or red warning next to USB Printer Support. If there is, right-clicky and delete it. Restart your machine. Go back to Device Manager, the USB Printer Support should be nice and clean. If there is no warning, I don't know the solution. Post back in either case and let us know.

Re: HP Deckjet 610C(L) Problems
Ok Parallel point was assigned a port in Bios, to 372 I think it was and now getting communication to the printer.
Although when I tried to print, it loaded the paper as if it was going to print, then the Error light came on on the printer, and I get an error on the CPU saying Document failed to print. So now its a new problem to figure out.

Re: HP Deckjet 610C(L) Problems
Is the Bios set for Bi-Directional communication (EPP). Also are you using a IEEE1284 parallel printer cable. There would be stamped IEEE1284 on the cable itself to identify if this cable is of IEEE1284 capibility.
Thanks, Bill |

Re: HP Deckjet 610C(L) Problems
We need to confirm this:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...=bud09185#N653 Chances are that it is. I would also double check the BIOS settings again. Most LPT1 ports should have a setting of 378/IRQ7 not 372, Also, is it set for Bi-directional (ECP or EPP). If this is a newer PC load the default settings in the BIOS and save them. Let me know what they are set at. Thanks, Bill |

Re: HP Deckjet 610C(L) Problems
I loaded up the defaults, it went to some type of EPP+ECP mode for parallel port. But I didnt solve the problem none.
it still loads paper, it does communicate, but then fails to print, the error light comes on on the printer, and CPU comes up telling me document failed to print.

Re: HP Deckjet 610C(L) Problems
Hi,
The settings in the BIOS appear to be correct. Does the error light blink or on steady. Do you have a USB cable for this printer? If so hook up the USB and see if it prints. I am just trying to determine if this is a communication problem or the printer itself. Thanks, Bill |
