HP C5180 AIO Software installation
I purchased an HP C5180 last week hoping to use it to replace my Brother 420CN AOI. However when I installed the hugemongous software package the scanniing functions work from the front panel but not the "Hp Solutions Center". I've had a continuing dialog with HP support but very little positive results. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times and run their diagnostic untility that shows no problems but the software still will not run. I can run some of it from a command line but not from the "Solutions Center."
This is all on my Presario 2100 running XP SP2. I also tried it on my son's newer Presario running Vista and it came up fine. Anybody got any clues what to try next? I certainly can't be the first one to have these symptoms! |

Re: HP C5180 AIO Software installation
What happens when you click on scan picture in Solution Center? Which error do you get?
Have you tried running the scan program directly from the computer without using solution center? (c:\program files\HP\Digital Imaging\Bin\HPQSCNVW) Depending on situations you could even have a third party software cause problems. The way to check that is to ->hold windows logo and then press R on the keyboard. ->type in msconfig and click ok. ->Confirm that you are set to normal startup in the general tab. ->Go to the startup tab. Click Disable all. ->Reclick any startup item in the list that begins with HP. ->Click apply. ->Go to the services tab. ->Click on Hide All Microsoft Services to put a check in the box. ->Click disable all. ->Click apply. ->Close the system configuration utility with the X in the upper right. ->Restart the computer. Then check to see if you can scan from solution center. If you can then finding the program or service that was the culprit involves turning them back on half at a time until you find the one that causes the problem. Look that one up on the internet to find out what it is. If it doesn't resolve the problem then to turn everything back on the fastest way is to: ->Hold the Windows Logo Key and press the R key. ->Type msconfig into the box if it isn't there already. ->Click ok. ->Select normal startup in the general tab. ->Click apply. ->Restart the computer. |
