Lexmark print spooler not running

I have the XP Home edition OS, compaq computer, Lexmark x63 printer/scanner/copier.

My internet service was recently interrupted, and now I am getting the "print spooler not running" message when I want to print a document from my Word Pad. I also get a message that I need to install a printer.
Up until that interruption my printer was working fine.

I am not computer saavy, so do not understand all the remedies I have read online at different sites. I am afraid of doing something wrong and wiping out my system.

I really need some help that I can understand.... thank you.

Try reloading the printer software that came with it. If it will not install, go to add/remove programs and remove. Now try again.
